These will fit, but they need a slight adjustment of the butterfly back. The hole is definitely large enough to fit the varying sizes of my post earrings. I used my nails to separate the "butterfly wings", ever so slightly. The tip of a pin will work, too. Usually, the motions of putting the post into the back would ease tension and open the wings slightly, but these are steel and not that pliable. It only takes a couple of seconds to adjust. Once adjusted, they will keep stability at that tension. Let me put it this way; I feel complete confidence using these on my little diamond studs, knowing they will be secure, until I take them off. You won't need to be concerned about loose earrings.
The correct term for these are "tension butterfly backs". It's the tension of the "butterfly wings" that grasp and secure the post of your earrings. The hole itself is not an issue. Ideally, the manufacturer should have eased the tension during production. That is the only reason for my 4 stars.
The backs are made of heavy duty steel...very sturdy. They're medium sized diameter...about 4mm. All 100 are the same diameter. The price is great!
I purchased these to replaced some sterling silver tension backs, I previously bought. They were flimsy and very lightweight. Over time, the tension started lessening on their own, and no longer fitted my earrings securely. When I attempted to tighten the butterfly wings, the metal crushed. You will not have worry about these steel backs losing their tension or the metal crushing while adjusting....or losing your earrings while sleeping or showering! The construction of these is excellent. Little things have a tendency to get lost, but if you keep up with them, these backs will last for years. They are very durable. Most people have no allergic reactions to the surgical steel.

i did not have any problems with it being too tight, they fit my earrings perfectly. and now i have to find some use for the 98 other backs haha. I guess its better if you split this purchase with some of your friends because honestly you won't need that many.

I have three holes in each ear and quite an assortment of stud earrings. Obviously, with so many pairs, I have lost quite a few earring backs and have had to rotate.
Finding these and seeing the cheap cheap price seemed perfect.. except that the earring backs don't fit on ANY of my earrings comfortably. I can force them on to a couple pairs, but 90% of the earring posts don't fit into the holes on these. Note that I wear regular stud earrings, nothing fancy or crazy.
I'm disappointed in these. There isn't enough information on the product page to know whether or not these will work for you. The only up side is the price.. at less than $2.50 I don't feel totally cheated.

I loose them all the time and I haven't been able to find earring backs anywhere, so I am so happy I was able to order them. The package was delivered on time and without any problems.
