5A Great Tool That Looks CoolFeb 09, 2012
By B. Savage "Karaoke Enthusiast"
I'm the kind of person who keeps a watch forever, just changing the leather bands and watch batteries. The last few times I changed my watch band, I used what I think is a cuticle pusher dealie from a manicure kit. It "worked," but it was aggravating to use.

When my current awesome Timex watch you can't find anywhere anymore (silver hardware, a fantastic font, and purple! indiglo) started to fail in terms of that fantastic indiglo (maybe that can get fixed for a pretty penny), I had to get a new watch. I like the watch okay, but I needed to put the old purple watchband on the new one 'cause black is too stark. So I took that weird manicure tool and tried to get the band off, but it was the last straw.

I looked for watchband removers here on Amazon and eventually settled on this one, mostly because it wasn't $18 or cheaply made, and I love metallic teal. The tool is AMAZING. Not only does it come in a fancy plastic protective pouch, but it saved me so much time and frustration. What usually took a couple minutes (up to 15 when it was really hard) took less than 15 seconds to accomplish. I use the forked end to go between the watch lug and the spring. It catches the spring, you push it down, and it easily comes out. To put a band on, you guide the spring into the lug, and push it down and into position.

Instead of dreading changing my watchband, I am kind of excited to use my new tool. I would recommend this for anyone who likes to just change their leather watchbands and keep their watch.
