Snappy Watch Case Back Easy OpenerJan 19, 2008
By Mark A. Nighman Overall a fine item. However, it takes a little getting used to the snap action. It would also be very easy for someone to injure one's self if due caution is not excercised. Still, it does seem to do the job once one gets a feel for how it operates!

Could use "a little" refining,but it works!Mar 23, 2010

""Beach Bum""
I've just, recently, received this tool so I have only used it on 6 watch backs so far. It DOES,"work as described", no real complaints there, but I did have to take it out to my shop and file down the end of the blade, just a hair, so it will fit under the edge of the smaller watch cases. It's very well built and comfortable to use, which is important to me when it comes to working on small, intricate, pieces such as ladies watches. Being "spring loaded", you do have to be a little bit careful with it,(again, mainly on the smaller ladies watches), so when it "lets loose" and the back pops free, you don't accidentally damage the internal parts of your watch! A very good tool for the price and I recommend it to anyone doing their own watch repairs, and/or, battery replacements.

Here's how it worksDec 22, 2011
By Barbara Cipolla I bought this thinking it was just a pry bar thanks to Amazon's famous non-descript descriptions of what they sell. (I'd like to give Amazon a "zero star" for that if I could.) It is not a pry bar and it works great. You put the blade between the cover and the watch body and push the handle toward the watch (axial direction.) When you get to the end of the stroke the internal spring snaps and drives the cover off. For those of you who are familiar with spring loaded center punches it works the same way. The watch I used it on had no lip to get under for a blade type tool. I don't know how I would have gotten the cover off without this tool.

Works well for most snapon watch backsFeb 07, 2012
By Sheldon I have to agree with what others have said: This device works well, but takes awhile to get used to. It does not pry the case back off, it works like a center punch. You keep pushing and pushing and you can feel a spring winding up. When you get to the end the spring pops forward driving the blade into the space between the watch and the removable back popping the back off -- usually on the first try.
I can only give it 4 stars as if you are not careful you could easily punch a hole through your hand. That said, watch where the blade is in relation to your hand and fingers before you push forward.

Great productNov 16, 2011
By mochanut This worked amazingly well. I had a watch that had no notch in the back. All my tiny screwdrivers were too thick to fit under the back to pry it off. I was so frustrated. I thought I would have to throw the watch away. This tool didn't fit under the back either, but I put it against the edge, pushed down(it has a spring action), and the back popped right off! I used it on a second watch with the same great results. I am so pleased.
