It should be noted that the mandrel is not circular all around, but that there is a deep grove in the back which will cause your rings to not be exactly circle around the finger.

Incorrect SizingAug 01, 2011
By J. Spitzer I bought this so that I could secretly size my girlfriend's existing ring before buying her an engagement ring. Apparently it measures about a half size off, because her existing ring measured 5.5, so that's what I had the new ring sized at. Thankfully I slid the new engagement ring on this mandrel before giving it to her, because it measured 5 on it! I took the ring back to the store, along with this mandrel, so they could re-measure themselves. The ring was a perfect 5.5 on their "real" mandrel but only 5 on this one. So they re-sized the ring up to a 6 and all was good. So glad I tested it before giving it to my fiancee! After all was said and done, I asked my fiancee what her true ring size is, and sure enough, she said 6.

Good for the priceOct 20, 2010

I bought this on a whim just to see if my jewelry would match up with my ring sizer and it does! This is a very light plastic (kind of cheap) device but it works. The white lines and numbers on the product are thickly painted on and not very well but again for the price its ok.

It's cheap, but it works!Apr 13, 2010
By J. Haggard I bought this so that I could measure the size of my current ring without having to go to a jeweler and I will say it is just a piece of plastic, but it works and it was very cheap so I didn't expect a professional grade jewelers tool. That being said, it lived up to my expectations and with proper care will last a long time. The measurements appear to be accurate as I also ordered a jewelers ring size set to see what size ring I need and the measurement on the sizing mandrel match the size ring I liked. I'm very happy with this, exactly what I expected.

Slightly Misleading Ring MandrelSep 30, 2011

"Jewelry Maker"
I bought the ring mandrel because I am a beginning jewelry maker and needed one to make my rings more consistent. Upon Receipt, I checked it against another ring singer I have. As with another reviewer, I noticed right off that the markings showing -5- or -6- are actually 5.5 and 6.5 respectively. In other words, the thick line between the numbers is the actual whole size, whereas the -*- numbers are the 1/2 sizes.
All sizing aside, it's lightweight and super easy to work with. The groove in the back does seem excessively large, but still doesn't really mess up my designs. In fact, it seems to help with wire wrapping because you can wrap the wire without removing the ring.
