Nearly as good as my 50 year old broken oneApr 21, 2009

Bought this tool to replace a 50 year old one that belonged to my father, when the positioning finger on it broke. At that time, I was using it by carefully holding the wheel in position while I gripped the tool down against the belt/leather. The punches on it were quite dull, and one had to squeeze the grip together, then rotate the leather to get a hole cut.
This new one is nearly that good, but certainly no better. I don't know what to buy now, to get a good leather punch, but this one is not it.

Though this item looks good in the picture, DON'T be fooled by the looks. I tried EVERY punch on the rotating wheel and could not get a single one of them to punch a hole. You have to hold pressure on the punch and work the leather back and forth to ever get a hole punched and even then it makes a ragged hole. DO NOT waste your money on this tool unless you plan on working your rear end off just to get a single hole. It is just NOT worth it. Definitely not enough detail about the tool in the item description.
