I bought a set of needle files when I was 14 years old (I'm 48 now) and the last few have finally gone south. Quality these days is not what it used to be so I was very reluctant to purchase another set site-unseen, but I went and ahead and gave it a shot. Man am I ever glad...!
These files are every bit as hard and well made as the ones I bought all those years ago and I fully expect they'll last just as long. I think everyone should own a good set of needle files. They come in handy for so many things and because of these size you can do highly precise filing, burr removal and because they're so hard you can actually use them for carving soft rock like soap-stone.
Oh, and to HappyFuzzyBunny - the oily substance is just that - oil. It's traditional to oil tempered carbon steel files (and any edged tools not made of stainless steel) as it keeps them from rusting and it also helps keep the teeth free of hard-stuck-on debris. Buy yourself a can of 3in1 oil and keep these babies oiled. I'm so used to oiling my tools once or twice a year I've come to equate that smell and feel with quality tools that well taken care of.
This is a package you won't regret buying. With shipping mine came out to about .94 cents each. Not bad for a tool that works well and lasts a long long time if not abused.

These files are perfect for what you need them for, maybe even a little more. There is a large variety of files for every type of craft you are doing. These are marketed for jewelrymaking which they work perfectly for, but you can also use these for other crafts as well.
There are rounded tips, flat files, squared and triangle as well as long points and more. Whatever need you have you'll find the right file in this reasonably priced package.

These work just great for what I need them for, filing a bit of metal off of findings, etc. For the price, they are super!

These work well & I like having a ton of file shapes to choose from. Only beef is that they are coated in some kind of oily substance that gets everywhere.

This set of 12 Needle Files is very good quality and is exactly what I wanted for use in making jewelry. It is surprising how much easier things go when you have the right tool on hand and this set gives me a lot to choose from.
These did need to be wiped off before using to remove the machining oil that lightly coated them.
Highly Recommended!
