This works very well, two hole sizes and a deep enough throat for most of my needs. You position your metal in the punch, then screw down the punch. You don't need to use excessive strength, it screws down fairly easily removing a small plug of metal. For bottle cap necklaces, I'll stick to Euro Metal Hole Punch Pliers 1.25mm but for putting holes in the ends of wire I've hammered flat or for piercing sheet metal, this works wonderfully. It's quiet, non-powered and doesn't take up much space in a metal working kit.
These also work just great for washer jewelry if you'd rather make a bail then just string it on a cord.

It's the best tool to make holes in silver material, also you can use the little piece left to make another thing.
