Good pair of gripping pliers for electronic workSep 04, 2011

These long nose pliers are made of non-magnetic stainless steel. They measure 6" long from the butts of the handles to the tips of the jaws. The handles are covered with rubber sleeves. The jaws extend 2-1/4" from the box joint and are held open by double leaf springs. The tips of jaws are about 1 mm across. The leaf springs work well after the initial stiffness of the joint. They render the pliers highly maneuverable as a pair of gripping pliers for electronic works - picking up tiny screws, routing thin wires around circuit cards, and plugging or unplugging miniature connectors, etc. They are definitely not intended for heavy-duty work like pulling nails from 4 X 4's. The price is reasonable. This pair of long nose pliers is a good buy.

My young grandson has developed an interest in building plastic scale models, a pursuit I am delighted to encourage. It has been decades since I was an avid modeler and I am in the process of creating new collection of hobbyist tools, gadgets and widgets.
I use long needle nose pliers often as a substitute for tweezers. I prefer the surer grip they provide on small parts. Needle nose pliers are generally easier for me to use them hemostats.
I did not want to spend too much and the description of these sounded like they would fill they bill.
And they most certainly do.
The build quality is surprisingly high. The pliers are too light to be steel, so I presume some kind of alloy has been used. The fit of the parts is very tight and they are finished very well. The handles are covered with a foam/plastic coating that provides excellent tactile feedback. The spring between the handles provides just the right tension so the jaws pop apart cleanly when you ease your hold.
The surfaces of the jaws are not textured, but they are somewhat rough. The tip of one jaw on my pair was slightly rounded where it should be absolutely square. A defect, yes, but not great enough to justify sending them back.
Overall, these are very nice, well suited for working on plastic models and very much worth the price.
