If you own several watches, this is a must have tool. With just 2 watch battery changes, this tool will pay for itself.

5Better than what you pay for.Feb 15, 2010

Perfect for my starter kit for the watch repair I do. Some day I'll get a Bergeon or Swiss made press but until I have $500, this will do quite well.

Sturdy and strong. I like the nylon dies because I'm certain they won't scratch anything.

It even held up to being put into a vice when my full weight wasn't enough to snap a Swiss Army back cover back on.

Highly recommended. It really is a great deal, especially for the price.

I got this press to work on some of my wife's watches. It was a piece of cake to use and did everything it said it would do. Great price too!

5Extremely Well MadeApr 23, 2011

I am sorry to hear that this device proved unsatisfactory for another user. Yes, you definitely should get a refund. For me, I just got in the mail today. My initial impression is that although inexpensive, it is very well made considering that it was made in India and priced very competitively. I also have a case wrench also purchased from Amazon which has opened nearly two dozen screw-on type backs of various brands and is still going strong.

I originally purchased a plier type case press which although it was padded on the jaws, managed to destroy a lot of watch crystals. Consider that when you apply pressure to case cover, equal pressure is being applied to the watch crystal which is not as hard or sturdy as the metal watch cover. Last year, I even applied so much force that I pressed my thumb through my wife's 37mm Seiko watch crystal.

This unique device allows you to selectively use nylon dies that places pressure on the watch's metal case and not on the crystal itself.

This concept is hard to explain but much easier to understand if you consider that your watch crystal is being protected by a hard outer tube or piece of plastic. The nylon dies fit over your existing watch crystal and actually raise the crystal and watch 1mm. Adding a piece of cotton or other material to the bottom die makes the procedure even more exacting and professional. I am sure that other materials can and will be used.

I have since used this device twice to close a pair of Casio and Timex watches with excellent results.
My set of watch repair tools is now complete. Please give this your best consideration.

4Worth every pennyFeb 27, 2011

If you decide to replace watch batteries you will need a device like this to easily snap the watch back onto the watch. It worked perfectly every time for me even though the dies it comes with were not always an exact fit for the particular watch. Watches come in so many unique sizes that I can see you cannot have every size. Also, although using the tool is very obvious it would have been nice to have included instructions. A final minor consideration is how one would store something like this. It is a very awkward shape. All in all worth it.
